Flamingo Friday

Here's more Flamingo Fun!

Flamingos have 12 to 16 tail feathers.

The word flamingo is most likely derived from the Latin, flamma, flame.

Flamingos molt (shed and replace) their wing and body feathers at irregular intervals ranging from twice a year to once every two years. Flamingo feathers lose their color once they have been molted / discarded by the bird.

Check out this pink guy by child-artist Devan in the Artful Flamingo shop on Etsy.
